What is this Visa?
The Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) 482 Visa in Australia is a work visa that allows Australian employers to sponsor skilled workers from overseas to fill temporary labour shortages. This visa is designed to address skills gaps in the Australian workforce by allowing employers to hire workers for roles that cannot be filled by local candidates.
There are two main streams under the TSS 482 Visa:
- Short-Term Stream
- For occupations listed on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
- This visa is valid for up to 2 years.
- Workers on this stream may be eligible to apply for another visa or a different pathway after their visa expires, but they may not be eligible for permanent residency through this stream.
- Medium-Term Stream
- For occupations listed on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- This visa is typically valid for up to 4 years.
- Workers in the medium-term stream may be eligible to apply for permanent residency after working in Australia for at least 3 years, under the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) or the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494).
